Sullivan University

Kentucky's largest independent university, Sullivan University, has campuses in Louisville, Lexington, and Ft. Knox. Educational programs at Sullivan are career focused, with students spending almost all of their time on courses that are specific to their program. Many diploma and degree programs have classes from Monday through Thursday, with Fridays being available for labs and practice, along with faculty interaction.

Sullivan University also does its best to ensure that graduates are employed quickly. A graduate employment services office offers lifetime assistance with placement in a new job, and graduates can return to campus to review, audit, or retake any course that they previously successfully completed.

Certificate, Diploma and Degree Programs

Computer Programming

The twelve month diploma program or eighteen month Associate degree program in Computer Programming focuses on learning programming skills in Visual Basic and Java. Students learn programming logic, and the principles of structured programming. They also learn database design and the principles of mathematics. Associate degree students take additional courses in business and general education. The program is not offered at the Ft. Knox campus.

Information Technology

Sullivan offers Associate, Bachelor, and Master's degrees in Information Technology. The Associate degree program prepares the student for CompTIA A+ and Net+ certification, along with Microsoft Network Engineering courses. The Bachelor degree provides a strong technical foundation in the principles of information technology, including computer programming and systems analysis. The Master's degree program is designed for professionals in the information technology environment who want to learn how to meet the challenges of moving from legacy systems to the new Internet/Intranet environment. The Ft. Knox campus only offers the Associate degree program, while the Master's degree is only offered at the Louisville campus.

Internet/Intranet Programmer

This program provides hands-on training in developing web sites, e-commerce portals, and web-based applications. Students learn client and server programming, along with database skills. Courses cover the Java language and ActiveX controls, In the Associate degree program, students explore systems design, business law, and other topics designed for professional development. Diploma and Associate degree programs are available at the Lexington and Louisville campuses only.

PC Support Specialist

The PC Support Specialist diploma and Associate degree programs are designed to teach the skills needed to work at a help desk, or act as the sole support technician at a small to midsize business. Students get hands-on experience learning to use and support common desktop application software, along with personal computers, networks, and the Internet. The additional training in the Associate degree program includes addition al training in user support systems, and general education courses. The diploma program is not offered at the Ft. Knox campus.

Microsoft Network Engineer and Microsoft Solution Developer Certificates

These two certification programs are offered as part of the Microsoft IT Academy. The Microsoft Network Engineer Certification shows proficiency in Microsoft's network operating systems, while the Microsoft Solution Developer certificate is for developers who create enterprise solutions with Microsoft development tools. Training is offered during the day, in the evening, and on weekends.
